Veterans!–Open Line Friday

The Eagle-Free Motion Quilting

Good Morning, Quilters!

Veterans Day is tomorrow– a day dedicated to all who serve or have served in our military.

On June 4, 1926, Congress passed a resolution that the “recurring anniversary of [November 11, 1918] should be commemorated with thanksgiving and prayer and exercises designed to perpetuate peace through good will and mutual understanding between nations,”
Flag quilt--Free Motion QuiltingI would like to personally thank all of our veterans.

Thank you for your dedication to our country and thank you for your service!

Thank you to all who serve their countries in the name of freedom and peace throughout the world!Free motion quilting, flag and USA Map
Today on Open Line Friday, please salute your favorite veterans by telling us about them.

If you are a veteran, tell us about what branch of the military you served or where you were stationed.

American Graffiti

American Graffiti Quilt, Lori Kennedy

Good Morning, Quilters!

While working on my pile of unfinished quilts, I came upon the Eagle above.  I used it as a practice piece to test drive motifs for the Traditional Eagle Quilt below.

It didn’t have much quilting on it…

So I filled in the spaces with a wide variety of quilting including a little lettering.

In the end, I’m not sure which quilt I like better–Two very different styles, but the Graffiti Eagle keeps one looking longer!American Graffiti Quilt, Lori Kennedy

Ruby sure likes it!

By the way, what’s with dogs, cats and quilts?!

So which quilt do YOU prefer?  Graffiti Eagle or Traditional Eagle?

We’d LOVE to hear!

Mixing it up in Minnesota,

Lori

PS…Both of these quilts were stitched with Aurifil thread in the bobbin (great for lock stitching with slippery threads on top)  and Sulky Rayon 40 wt on top–on my BERNINA 770QE (dream machine!).
