Craftsy Filming Day!

Craftsy TeamGood Morning, Quilters!

On the top of my planner, there is a little box labeled:  Today’s Focus. For the past several weeks I have filled it in with Craftsy!  I have worked with the talented editors at Craftsy to write an outline, then a script and then tweak and  tweak the script while we added quilts and graphics to highlight each topic.  When we weren’t writing, I was sewing.

Finally, Craftsy! week is here!  I flew in to Denver on Tuesday and yesterday we had rehearsals and shot still photos of the quilts.  It was hard work, but the Craftsy team is both professional and fun!

I know from previous experience that today’s filming will be hard work!  It is hard enough to remember what I’m trying to convey…but to have to be sure to look at the right camera and point slowly so the camera can follow and then not sound like a robot…argh!

One of the tricks from the producers is to think about actually talking to someone-so I will be talking to you, gentle reader!  I will be thinking of you!

CraftsyPlease think of me and send positive quilting vibes my way!

Perhaps you could all take a moment to quilt or doodle….

I’m sure it will help!

May YOUR day be filled with terrifying exciting adventure!

Vintage Linens

Vintage Lines, TurtlesGood Morning, Quilters!

For the past several months, I have been working with the Craftsy editors to create a quilting class to complement my other two classes:  Divide and Conquer Machine Quilting and Creative Machine Quilting. (Get 50% off either class HERE)

Now that you know a wide variety of motifs, the question becomes how to design the machine quilting on the quilt tops YOU have.

We will discuss a wide variety of quilt types–including quilting on embroidered blocks.  I know many of you create gorgeous embroidery-both hand and machine designs.  We will give you some really fun ideas for quilting embroidered blocks.

I have been saving these adorable vintage tea towels for just the right project and I can’t wait for you to see the finished quilt!

What about YOU?

Do YOU do machine or hand embroidery?

Do YOU ever add your embroidery to quilt blocks?

Do YOU collect anything vintage?

We’d LOVE to hear!

Sailing Away!

Sailboat Block, QuiltAhoy, Quilters!

Next week I am traveling (though not by boat) to Denver to film a third Craftsy video!

I am very excited about this video because the emphasis is on using the quilt motifs in a variety of quilts.   I don’t want to give too much away…but the whole idea is to jumpstart your UFOs and turn them into useable quilts. We offer a variety of approaches to quilting a large selection of quilts.

LOST AT SEA?

While my blogging has been very inconsistent lately, I am not lost at sea…

We have spent hours writing a comprehensive script (and the tweaking continues!) and I have been working feverishly to create dozens of samples.  I hope (and expect) the results will speak for themselves!

Sailboat Block, QuiltI will have to follow the winds for the next two weeks and post when I can…please be patient!

I hope it will be smooth sailing!

What about YOU?  Are YOU working on any big projects?  How many UFOs do YOU currently have?

We’d LOVE to hear!

Yo Ho Ho!
