The Home Run Baseball Quilt

Free Motion Quilted Baseballs

Do you have any Little League baseball players in your family?  Or perhaps your child prefers softball or tennis?

Wouldn’t it be nice to record all their teams and special dates–home runs, etc. in a special way?

Or perhaps you need a gift for that special coach?

Why not make a Home Run Quilt?

Whether your child is in Little League or Fast Pitch softball, or tennis (green fabric, no zig zag)…this quilt is perfect for all the sportsmen on your team!

Once the quilt is complete,  use a permanent marker to add the names of all the baseball teams on which your child has played and the dates of their home runs…

If your quilt is a coach’s gift, ask each child on the team to sign the baseballs…

Create this quilt by overlapping the circles from yesterday’s free motion quilt tutorial:  The Baseball.

In today’s quilt, I used two types of Rayon thread:  Robison-Anton’s Twister Tweed and Sulky 40 wt –or use cotton Aurifil 28 wt thread as I did in yesterday’s tutorial.

Little League Weekend

Little League, Baseball, Photography

I’ll be soaking up the rays and enjoying a whole lot of baseball this weekend.  Thrilling competitions with all the drama of major league baseball.

I realize that compared to the Majors, this is Little League…but boys this age are hardly “little” any more and the games seem just as important.

Admission is free, the competition intense, and the fans are great!  I love baseball!

Baseball Opening Day

It may not feel like Spring, but today is major league baseball’s opening day–so warm weather can not be far behind.

I hail from a divided family:  my father was a Chicago White Sox fan, but my mother is a die-hard Cubs fan.   (For the sake of family harmony, my father eventually converted to the Cubs.)  When I moved to Minnesota, I fell hard for the Minnesota Twins.  They are an easy team to love with players like Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau…

Today’s game: 3:10 pm, Target Field, Detroit Tigers

Go Twins!
