My husband and I have a long-standing Christmas tradition that we have enjoyed as long as we have been Santa.

On the Sunday nights between Thanksgiving and Christmas, after having tucked the wee ones in bed… we pour a little holiday cheer…turn on an old Christmas movie… and wrap the presents we have accumulated during the week.

We always begin with my favorite Christmas movie…..We’re No Angels.

We're No Angels

Humphrey Bogart, Peter Ustinov and Aldo Ray are escaped convicts from Devil’s Island who end up helping the family they come to rob.  Hilarious.  Very witty–and the body language is as funny as the dialog.

We also love:  The Bishop’s Wife—The old one with Cary Grant.  Cary Grant plays an angel sent to help a bishop and his wife, but things get complicated when Grant falls in love with the Bishop’s wife…

#3 on the list:  Christmas in Connecticut with Barbara Stanwyck and Sydney Greenstreet.  Another very funny movie with a great script.  Uncle Felix has the funniest lines…

#4…The Shop Around the Corner with Jimmy Stewart and Margaret Sullavan.  This is the movie on which You’ve Got Mail was based.  Rather sweet…

#5…A Christmas Carol.  There are dozens of versions of this great classic, but our favorite is the one with George C. Scott as Mr. Scrooge.

Did you notice that I didn’t mention It’s a Wonderful Life…It is not on my top five list…I may be the only person on the world-wide web to say this… but I hate this cloying movie–when Jimmy Stewart screams “Maaarrrryyy…I’ll say no more…

What are your favorites?  I’d love to hear…
