Creative Energy and Big Projects-Open Line Friday

Good Morning, Quilters!

Happy Friday!

JOIN ME IN A HAPPY DANCE!

Pop open the champagne!

I just completed all the samples and all the writing for my second book of machine quilting motifs for Martingale Publications!

Everything was mailed yesterday and I feel like celebrating!

I’m not sure which I’m celebrating…the new book (with 60 more motifs–including Seasons and Holidays)

or that I can free up my creative energy for other projects now!

CREATIVE ENERGY

I find that creative energy is like physical energy in that I only have so much on any given day.

While I was busy writing and making samples for my book, I found other creative projects much more difficult.

On the other hand….Maybe it was the deadline thing?

What about YOU?

What stifles YOUR creative energy?

What enhances YOUR creative energy?

Is there such a thing as creative energy?

We’d LOVE to hear!

Creative Free Time

Machine Quilting, Hand Quilting

Good Morning, Quilters!

Do YOU give yourself creative free time?

Do you take time to play with your supplies and materials without following a plan?

Machine Quilting, Hand Quilting

No?

Neither do I…

at least not often enough!

Machine Quilting, Hand Quilting

Last week, I needed a little hand sewing.

I hadn’t been in my sewing room in awhile…

I bet some of you know that feeling!

Machine Quilting, Hand Quilting

I started with a linen quilt sandwich and added hand stitching.

The idea exceeded the result…

The next day I added a little machine quilting with 30 wt  Sulky cotton.

Now I think this experiment has merit…

Love the linen.

Love the combination of hand and machine quilting.

and

I loved playing without a plan!

What about YOU?

Do YOU take time for creative play?

Have any of your experiments turned into a big project?

We’d LOVE to hear!

Folding Fabric-A Quick Tip

Quilt Room Organization

Nancy Zieman Fabrics

Good Morning, Quilters!

It’s taken me awhile, but I think I have found all of the fabric I had stashed throughout my house…

It’s sorted and neatly folded in my fabulous new sewing room!  Hurray!!!

HOW LONG CAN THIS LAST?

Unfortunately….

Not long!

Quilt Room Organization

But I found this YouTube video by SewVeryEasy...on how to fold fabric.

It’s Brilliant!  (Wish I’d seen it before I filled the cupboards!)

As much as I promise myself to keep this clean…

I know my creative style…

M-E-S-S-Y!!!

THE CREATIVE CYCLE

Mess.  Clean.  Mess. Organize.  Mess.

What about YOU?

Are you more creative when your studio is clean?

Do you keep your sewing room clean?

We’d LOVE to hear!
