Creative Energy and Big Projects-Open Line Friday

Good Morning, Quilters!

Happy Friday!

JOIN ME IN A HAPPY DANCE!

Pop open the champagne!

I just completed all the samples and all the writing for my second book of machine quilting motifs for Martingale Publications!

Everything was mailed yesterday and I feel like celebrating!

I’m not sure which I’m celebrating…the new book (with 60 more motifs–including Seasons and Holidays)

or that I can free up my creative energy for other projects now!

CREATIVE ENERGY

I find that creative energy is like physical energy in that I only have so much on any given day.

While I was busy writing and making samples for my book, I found other creative projects much more difficult.

On the other hand….Maybe it was the deadline thing?

What about YOU?

What stifles YOUR creative energy?

What enhances YOUR creative energy?

Is there such a thing as creative energy?

We’d LOVE to hear!

Doodle Quilt Design

Doodle Quilt Design, Lori Kennedy

Good Morning, Quilters and Doodlers!

It’s been a long time since we doodled!  I’ve been spending a lot of creative energy on a big project…I’ll tell you more tomorrow…consequently,

I haven’t been doing my doodling homework!

I hope YOU have been doodling!

DOODLING A BABY QUILT

All good quilting begins with a plan.

And a lot of doodling!

I recently designed a stitched a baby quilt for my friend’s granddaughter.

After filling pages and pages, this was my final “draft”.  I still made a lot of changes in the final quilt, but I started with this basic framework and idea.

DOODLING YOUR OWN QUILT

Today’s Doodle Lesson…

Start with a basic framework–just four wavy lines.

Double up a few of the lines–or all of them.

Then choose some of your favorite motifs and start filling in the lines.

Don’t over think it…

Once you have one draft completed, see what works and what you’d might want to change.

And start another…

And another,

And another,

The first one is almost NEVER the best one!

Are YOU inspired to quilt one?

We’d LOVE to hear!

And to see!

Have fun doodling–and don’t be afraid to ruin a few pages in your sketchbook!

Eight Fabulous Pin Cushions with Tutorials!

http://weallsew.com/free-motion-quilted-scissors-pincushion-tutorial/

Good Morning, Quilters!

I have a lot of pin cushions….Do YOU?

There’s one by each sewing machine, one on my cutting table, an upstairs pin cushion, a downstairs pin cushion, one for needles, one for silk pins….

MY NEW ZIRKEL

I can always use another pin cushion.  So when I saw this Zirkel red magnetic pin cushion at my local quilt shop, I was intrigued!  Have you seen these?  It is magnetized so that the pins align themselves on the outer edge-making them easy to grab!

Very clever!

When I saw a red one…well I just knew it had to come home with me!

Be sure to get a demo of the Zirkel at your quilt store!
