Gone Fishin’

Machine Quilting, Lori Kennedy

Good Morning, Quilters!

I’m off on a little quilting adventure…

Isn’t it amazing the people you meet and the places you go when you have a hobby like quilting?  It’s our little sub-culture.

Quilt retreats, classes, shop-hops, online friends.

Quilting has certainly enriched my life!

QUILT DETAILS

This quilt was stitched on Kona cotton fabric with Aurifil 28 wt cotton (white) and Sulky Rayon 40wt in blue on my BERNINA 770QE!

Notice how thread can help “paint” your subject!

Hugs and Kisses–A Free Motion Quilting Tutorial

FMQ, Lori Kennedy

Good Morning, Quilters!

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, I wanted to give you Hugs and Kisses!

This adorable motif is perfect for any quilt you are giving as a gift–Valentine’s Day, Birthday, Christmas…Send your love with your next quilt!

Begin by drawing two parallel lines–any distance apart–from very large to teeny tiny.  (In the sample below, the lines are one inch apart.

Begin stitching on the lower line.  Stitch an angled-line to the top line.

Echo stitch halfway back–to the center.

Stitch an angled line (up and left) to the top drawn line.

Echo stitch this line and then stitch across the middle to the bottom drawn line.

Echo stitch the bottom of the “x”

Then stitch under the “x” to begin the next motif.

Stitch over several stitches–so you are in the middle of where your “O” will be placed.

Stitch a full circle.

Then echo stitch the interior of the circle.

Exit underneath the “O” and stitch along the bottom line to begin the next “X”.

LOVE!!!

Hugs and Kisses from ME to YOU!!!

Lori

PS…Does anyone know…is the X a hug and the O the kiss?  How did this ever get started?
