Craftsy005Good Morning, Quilters!

I hope we have all our technical glitches cleared up by now…if not please leave a comment!

THE Craftsy ADVENTURE began months ago when I was contact by one of their “Acquisition Editors” who asked me if I’d be interested in doing a video for Craftsy…

No, thank you…Well I’m not sure…Maybe…I’ll think about it…Okay…Definitely…Can’t Wait!  (all within one minute!)

That began the WILD RIDE!

CraftsyFirst there were weeks of planning, writing, editing, re-writing and lots of quilting along the way–I was dying to tell YOU and show YOU the quilts!

CraftsyIn mid-June, I sent two huge packages of quilts and supplies to Denver so they’d be there when I arrived.

I was going to bring my new BERNINA 770QE, but they had a BERNINA 780 on set so I decided to use their machine and avoid lugging mine through the airport.Craftsy I spent three and a half days filming in Denver.  It was absolutely exhausting but tons of fun!  The crew was fantastic-professional but hilarious.  They kept me laughing all day long, which was a good thing, because I was a bit nervous.CraftsyIt is currently being edited by the amazing Craftsy team.  The hours of filming gets edited into a 2 and half hour video of seven lessons-like most of the Craftsy videos.

If you aren’t familiar with Craftsy, their videos are fabulous.  Once you purchase them, you own them forever and you can bookmark them and ask questions of the instructor!  You can even watch them in double time, if you are short on time…(of course, you won’t do that on MY video, right!?)

I have taken several Craftsy classes and two of my favorites are:

Cindy Needham Wholecloth Quilts

This video is packed with technical information and traditional quilts.   While Cindy’s style is much more traditional than mine, I really learned a lot from the lessons.  (and now I’m collecting antique tablecloths and napkins….someday!)

Cindy Needham Wholecloth Quiltsand Grace Young’s The Art of Stir Frying

I bought this video around Christmas and then gave everyone in my family her cookbook and a wok.  Now that I’m off “Craftsy duty”  (cooking and cleaning have definitely been neglected lately)….I plan to watch this again and begin cooking these healthy recipes again!

The Art of Stir FryingThat’s all for now…

I’m off to do some much neglected weeding, paperwork and exercise!

Hope YOUR summer has been a GREAT ADVENTURE so far!

What’s happening at YOUR house?  We would LOVE to hear!

Back to Doodling! Line Doodles

Line DoodlesGood Morning, Quilter-Doodlers!

Now that we are sure we’re up and running, let’s get back to the serious business of Dooodling! (I want to put YOU back to work first, later I’ll tell more about THE Craftsy ADVENTURE!)

We are on Lesson 11 in our Better Quilting through Doodling Series.  (Access all the Doodling tutorials HERE)

Last time we doodled negative spaces.  Actually, we didn’t doodle the negative space, we doodled to create the negative space.  Read more HERE.

Line Doodles

Line Doodles

This week, we’ll start the same way, with a small square.  Create a negative space with lines, then fill in the area with lines going in a different direction, or lines with different spacing.Line DoodlesAnother way to fill the negative space is to jog up into the shape and jog down again…see the heart on the upper left below.Line DoodlesFor starters, keep the shape simple, like a heart or a capital letter.Line Doodles

It’s amazing what you can do create with simple lines!

Any ideas how you could turn this into quilted lines?  If not, that’s okay.  We are still building “Creative Muscles”!  (MY kind of exercise!)

Happy to be back!

Testing, Testing…1,2,3

Dizzy Daisy Free motion quiltingGood Morning, Quilters!

Did you ever get one of those emails that say you need to update your bank records–please enter your Social Security number, date of birth, address, etc?…

Right to the Spam file…

Well when The Inbox Jaunt renewal came, something about it made me suspicious, so I ignored it.  Guess they weren’t kidding when they said my blog wouldn’t work if I didn’t enter my credit card number!

So this e-mail is a test?  Are we up and running?  Please leave a comment as a check...

Also, as a result of the snafu, some of you have signed up for the OLD INBOX JAUNT…which I never update or check comments.

In any case, I’m back from my adventures and have lots to share!
