  1. This one tells a story, doesn’t it? Looks to me like a widow speaks with the suitor in the hall while her women relatives and friends watch and listen. There are so many saturated colors and rich details for such an ordinary setting–a rag wrapped around the chair leg, a rumpled calendar hanging on a plaster wall. Great!

  2. Fascinating……almost like a photo in some areas but maintains the character of a painting.. Love that it has “story.” Maybe they are working on a wedding dress ensemble. Whatever, they are having fun IMHO..So glad to have seen this. I knew the painter’s name but had never seen this work. Thanks!

  3. Love this picture, there is so much to see. I think Mom is at the door and he is the the suitor for the beautiful blushing sister in the dark shirt. Amazingly, she reminds me of Meryl Streep, just such perfect features. Thanks for these wonderful Saturday Seamstresses in Fine Art posts. Merry Christmas!
