Step by Step: From Doodle to Quilt

PurpleDoodleQuilt.LKennedy.TheInboxJaunt.004Good Morning, Quilters and Doodlers!

Remember this doodle exercise from last Thursday?

Circle Doodles, LKennedyI couldn’t resist the question:  Can this doodle become a quilt?

I did not trace the page of doodles…the idea was enough.

Instead, I used these circle templates–purchase at an office supply store-to compose right on my fabric.

Lori Kennedy The Inbox Jaunt CirclesI stitched all of the circles in dark purple thread. Aurifil 50 wt cotton

Aurifil 50 wt cotton was perfect!

And of course, I was stitching on my domestic sewing machine–the lovely BERNINA 770QE.

LKennedy.TheInboxJaunt.FMQThis was finished in a flash–because the ideas were all worked out in the DOODLING PHASE!!

  1. I’m so glad you did this! When I saw the doodle post, I did think it would make a great quilt. I want to do the same thing as a way to try out different decorative threads and thread weights. It’ll also give me more practice using a circle quilting template I have and general FMQ practice. Win, win all around!!

  2. Beautiful, I love purple. What kind of batting did you use? It pops in between the stitching of the flowers Its on my to do list..

  3. An absolutely beautiful
If your taking nominations for #1 Fan, I’m nominating myself. 🙂
Question. Rod hi uses Stitch Regulator to achieve the perfect uniformity of your stitches?
