Spring Hyacinth Vase Quilt

Hyacinth Free Motion QuiltingGood Morning, Quilters!

I hope you enjoyed yesterday’s breath of Spring air…The Hyacinth Free Motion Quilt tutorial!

While it is sunny here in Minnesota, the temperature is hovering around 27F and threatening snow!  I’m really tired of winter…

We’ll just pretend it doesn’t exist anymore…

and with Easter on the way, it’s easy to liven up the house with bright colors!

IMG_0296This bright “vase quilt” is stitched on pastel hand-dyed fabrics with Sulky 40 wt Rayon on top and Aurifil cotton 50 wt in the bobbin, on my Bernina 820 (domestic sewing machine) without a BSR.  I tried Tuscany Silk batting in this quilt…new for me.

IMG_0297I’m not sure I like the bright pink outline, but it certainly reflects the colors I was craving when I pieced it (a long time ago—see the Umbrella Quilt companion.)

I’d love to hear—(as long as it’s not off-color, of course!)

  1. I like the pink border! But then pink is my color so… And the hand dyed fabric looks lovely! I got out Eastery things I haven’t put out in a few years! I thought Charlie might like them :). Snow here so I’m heading down to sew! Love your little quilt!

  2. This is stunning! I love the colors and your Easter set-up. You’re all ready for a joyous Spring. Thank you for sharing this with us!

  3. I love the pink also. Very spring and very Easter. We woke up to ice hanging on all out tree this morning. Wisconsin weather!!! They look as sad as I feel looking at them. Off to the sewing room!

  4. Beautiful quilt, as usual. Thanks for sharing. We have drought here in California. Record-setting temperatures this week. ..80 degrees! Nice now, but a little scary to think about a long, hot summer.

  5. Just lovely! You are so good at fitting things into spaces. I would have to do a lot of fudging to make them come out right.
